Internship for AGS Electric Inc.
"I would like to discuss my internship with AGS Electric Inc., and what I hoped to gain from it. My degree will be in Adult and Continuing Education. My coursework has been interesting and now I can apply what I learned about instructional technology and the interactions between people and computers. I was grateful to be offered the internship at AGS Electric Inc. AGS is a family owned company and is based in Salem Oregon.
Although my time spent on this internship would be considered short, 30 hours, I feel that my impact on my particular duties will be far reaching. The internship began on 1/11/2013 and ended on 2/15/2013. During this period of time I was able to use Prezi and Sliderocket, two utilities learned in the Instructional Technologies course, to transform the AGS Electric Inc. Employee Handbook into an embeddable link for use in their new web site.
I believe I learned a lot from this internship. I was exposed to the entire planning process that is important in the development of a website. Although it wasn't technically an educational or web-based training site, it was still a site that had to be carefully thought out.
I think one of the most important things I got out of this experience was learning how to work in a very different culture and environment that I am typically used to, of course, I didn't expect everyone to adjust to me. I still did my best to adjust on my own, but it was reassuring to know that my supervisor and coworkers understood where I was coming from."
